Applications are invited for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow position with the Trajano Laboratory in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering and the Olson Laboratory and the Stoeber Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada. The position is available immediately for 1 year, with the possibility of extension. The research project is part of the 3rd phase of the Energy Reduction in Mechanical Pulping (ERMP) program, that involves 12 professors at 4 Canadian institutions and 10 industry partners. The program aims to develop strategies to reduce energy and to create higher-value markets for mechanical pulp through fundamental discovery.
This particular project will assess how wood fiber processing conditions (especially mechanical refining and enzyme treatment) affect microfibrillated cellulose morphology and how the morphology of suspended fibers relates to the suspension rheology.
