Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate to work within the group of Prof. Silvia Vignolini at the Department of Chemistry. The position will be focused on the optimisation and fabrication of cellulose-based particles, suspensions, and powders for the use as photonic materials. The candidate should:
Have a PhD degree (or be about to obtain) in the fields of chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering or process engineering
Have the knowledge and experience in the field of chemical processing of cellulose (hydrolysis, dialysis, assembly) and functionalization of cellulose materials
Possess a strong laboratory experience, operation of machines and process development
Have a profound knowledge and deep understating of polymer chemistry, colloids, manufacturing of coatings and powders
Have an innovative mindset, with a passion for product development
Be able to work independently and possess a self-motivated personality
Be excellent verbal and written communication skills
Have the ability and experience to work under pressure to meet deadlines
Prepare investigation protocols and reports
Be an enthusiastic, confident and self-motivated personality and the ability to quickly contribute to the culture and way of working
